Commissioned paintings

Sometimes the story you want to keep does not yet exist on canvas. Luis Ludovic creates original works on commission — starting from an idea, a person, a place or a memory that matters to you.

What can be commissioned

Portraits, landscapes, symbolic compositions

A commissioned work is not the copy of an existing painting. Each commission becomes the starting point of a new work, created individually in Luis’s artistic language.

It can begin with a person · a story · a place · a memory · an idea · a space. Portraits go beyond likeness: they can capture character, memory or the bond between people. The theme is discussed with the artist — the interpretation is his.

You do not choose a painting from a catalogue. You entrust the artist with a story.

Step by step

How a commissioned work is born

I

The Meeting

Everything begins with a conversation — on WhatsApp, by e-mail or at the gallery — about the person, place, idea or space the work is imagined for.

II

The Quote

You receive the price and the timeframe, based on dimensions, technique and complexity.

III

The Sketch

After a deposit, the artist proposes a concept sketch, which you discuss together before the painting begins.

IV

The Studio

The painting is built over time, through drawing, colour and texture — usually within 3–6 weeks.

V

The Work

You receive an original, signed painting with its certificate of authenticity — at the gallery or shipped by courier, carefully packed.

A work for your space

How would the painting look in your home?

Send a photo of the wall or the room, together with approximate dimensions, and the artist can suggest a theme, a composition and a format suited to your space.

Frequently asked questions

About commissions

How much does a commissioned painting cost?

It depends on size, technique and complexity. You receive a clear quote after the first conversation about the theme and dimensions, together with an estimated timeframe.

How long does it take?

Usually between 3 and 6 weeks, depending on size and complexity. The timeframe is agreed with the artist at the start.

Do I receive a certificate of authenticity?

Yes. Every commissioned work is signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity stating the title, year, technique and dimensions.

Can the painting be shipped abroad?

Yes. Commissioned works can be shipped within the European Union by courier, professionally packed to protect the canvas. Shipping costs are communicated together with the quote.

Does the artist also restore paintings?

Yes. Trained in painting restoration in Madrid, Luis also restores old or damaged paintings — ask for details with a photo of the work.
