Luis Ludovic Garcia Camarero · Surrealist painter · Contemporary art · Transylvania

Beyond what the eye can see.

Reality is only the starting point. In the painting of Luis Ludovic Garcia Camarero, the human figure, symbol, memory and imagination meet in a universe on the border between the real and the inner world. A Spanish painter settled in Transylvania, Luis builds through colour a world of his own, in which every work becomes an invitation to interpretation.

The work

A universe between reality and imagination

Luis Ludovic's painting does not seek to reproduce the world as it is. It takes it apart and rebuilds it. Figures, faces, landscapes and imagined spaces meet in compositions where reality becomes a pretext for deeper themes: the human being, love, time, spirituality, solitude, family — in a visual language that brings together surrealist, figurative and abstract influences.

About the artist

From Spain to Transylvania. A life devoted to painting.

Born in Spain in 1959 and artistically trained in Madrid, Luis Ludovic Garcia Camarero has built a visual language entirely his own.

His artistic journey continues today in Transylvania, where he paints and experiments, developing a universe in which personal experience meets imagination. Surrealism, the figurative and the abstract come together in painting dominated by characters, symbols, colour and imagination.

In his work, reality is not reproduced — it is reinterpreted. Human figures transform, proportions shift, landscapes take on symbolic dimensions, and colour becomes a language.

For Luis, painting begins where explanation ends.

Why an original work?

Some things cannot be reproduced.

An original painting carries the traces of the process that created it: the texture, the gesture, the layers of colour and the artist's decisions. No second identical copy exists. A work can transform a space, hold a story and become part of a personal or family legacy.

Original

Every painting is an original work, made entirely by the artist.

Unique

No two identical copies of the same work exist.

Signed

Each work carries the artist's signature.

Authenticated

Commissioned works come with a certificate of authenticity.

Straight from the studio

You know the origin and the story of every work, directly from the artist.

The personal collection

A body of work built over time

The works presented here belong to the artist's personal collection. They are not displayed for commercial purposes and they are not for sale.

Gathered over the years, they trace the evolution of an artistic language, the shifts in perspective and the themes Luis keeps returning to.

The gallery is not a shop. It is the place where the work can be seen as a whole.

Some works must be seen, not bought.

A work created for you

Commissioned paintings

The personal collection is not for sale. There is, however, the possibility of Luis Ludovic creating an original work on commission — not a copy of an existing painting, but a new work, made individually in Luis's artistic language.

It can begin with a person · a story · a place · a memory · an idea · a space. The theme is discussed with the artist, but the interpretation is his.

You do not choose a painting from a catalogue. You entrust the artist with a story.

I

The Meeting

Everything begins with a conversation — about a person, a place, an idea, a memory, or the space the work is imagined for.

II

The Interpretation

The artist turns the theme into a visual concept of his own.

III

The Sketch

The idea takes shape and you discuss it together before the work begins.

IV

The Studio

The painting is built over time, through drawing, colour and texture — usually within 3–6 weeks.

V

The Work

The result: an original, one-of-a-kind painting, signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

The portrait

Beyond likeness.

A portrait does not have to reproduce only a person's face. It can capture character, memory, the bond between people, or the way someone is seen by the person commissioning the work.

Luis Ludovic paints commissioned portraits in his own artistic interpretation: individual portraits, family portraits, a loved one, a memory.

The face is the starting point. The painting tells the rest.

A work for your space

How would the painting look in your home?

A commissioned work is easier to imagine when it starts from the space it will live in.

Send us a photo of the wall or the room, together with approximate dimensions, and the artist can suggest a theme, a composition and a format suited to your space.

Visit the gallery

Art looks different in front of the canvas.

A photograph captures the image — but it cannot fully convey the texture, the scale, the intensity of colour or the physical presence of a painting. That is why the collection can also be discovered at the gallery in Frata, in the space where the artist lives and works.

From the studio

The unseen process of painting

Before a finished work there are sketches, attempts, layers, changes and sometimes renunciations. The studio is where an idea becomes an image. In the artist's journal (in Romanian) you can discover the creative process, the stories behind the works and the symbols that return throughout Luis Ludovic's universe.

Painting workshops

Art passed on.

Beyond his own work, Luis Ludovic shares the experience of painting in workshops for children and adults — not as a commercial extension of the gallery, but as an encounter with drawing, colour and the freedom to create. The workshops take place in Cluj-Napoca and Frata.
